Danish designed. Queensland compliant.

Interconnected smoke alarms that are safe, stylish and Queensland compliant.

Countdown to compliance.

From 1st January 2022 all Queensland rental dwellings are legally required to have interconnecting smoke alarms in all bedrooms and hallways. If replacing your smoke alarms, you can count on CAVIUS to be fully compliant, compact and safe.

Compliance checklist:

10 Year
Battery

Mains
Powered

All smoke alarms must be either powered by mains power or non-removal 10 year battery. When replacing any existing installed alarms in the dwelling, these must be ‘like for like’ i.e. a hardwired/mains powered alarm must be replaced with a hardwired/mains powered alarm.

Wireless
Interconnectivity

All smoke alarms must be interconnected with each other, this can either be wired or wireless. The CAVIUS Wireless Family alarms all connect with each other wirelessly, without the need to run cable between each alarm.

Core
Technology

All smoke alarms must be photoelectric (cannot contain an ionisation sensor) and comply with Australian standards AS3786:2014.

INSTALLATION

Installed in all bedrooms, hallways, and between areas containing bedrooms. If there are no bedrooms on a storey, at least one smoke alarm must be installed in the most likely path of travel to exit the dwelling.

Refined.
Elegant.
Compliant

The CAVIUS Wireless Family photoelectric alarms interconnect with each other, powered by a 10-year battery or mains powered – making them fully compliant with Queensland’s new legislation. Our Wireless Family isn’t just a better-looking alarm system, it’s a safer one.

Photoelectric Smoke Alarm

78mm, Battery Operated, Wirelessly Connected

Product details

Fitted with CAVIUS CORE technology, the Wireless Family Photoelectric Smoke Alarm has the optimal chamber size for photodiode amplifiers and a micro-controller, which ensures precise signal processing.

The Wireless Family alarms interconnect to each other using innovative Radio Frequency technology so when one alarm activates, they all sound.

The battery-operated CAVIUS Wireless Family alarms require no wiring. Setting up and interconnecting your alarms is a simple 2-minute process.

Once connected; when one alarm starts to siren, it will send out a 360-degree signal, all other CAVIUS Wireless Family alarms in range will also start to siren.

The range between alarms depend on the building materials and should be tested in each individual case. A minimum 100m range in plain line of sight.

This Danish design means that no matter where a fire is detected, all alarms sound, giving your family vital extra minutes for evacuation.

‘Like for like’ rule:

It’s key to note that if replacing an existing smoke alarm, it must be ‘like for like’ i.e. if you currently have a hardwired/mains powered alarm, this must be replaced with a hardwired/mains powered alarm.

Other installation requirements

Where practicable smoke alarms must be placed on the ceiling. Smoke alarms must not be placed:

  •    within 300mm of a corner of a ceiling and a wall
  •    within 300mm of a light fitting
  •    within 400mm of an air-conditioning vent
  •    within 400mm of the blades of a ceiling fan

Please see our FAQ page for more details.

Please note, there are special requirements for stairways, sloping ceilings, and ceilings with exposed beams.
Specific requirements are explained in the Building Fire Safety Regulation 2008
